Job Title: Food Service Manager 2

Join the Ohio Department of Veterans Services as a Food Service Manager 2 and be part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional care to our nation's heroes.

Job Summary:

The Food Service Manager 2 is responsible for overseeing the entire food service operation at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown. This includes managing staff, supervising food preparation and service, and ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage the food service operation, including sanitation, infection control, and vendor contract compliance.
  • Supervise frontline supervisors and lower-level food preparation and service staff, including preparing schedules, approving leave requests, and conducting staff meetings.
  • Oversee the ordering of food and supplies from vendors, including paper products, dry goods, frozen food, and utensils.
  • Prepare related records and reports, including sanitation, cycle menus, and daily production sheets.
  • Supervise lower-level custodial workers and laundry staff, schedule staff, prioritize assignments, and train new employees.
  • Attend and conduct staff meetings, meet with the dietitian/dietetic technician to discuss changes and modifications, and attend committee meetings.
  • Oversee fiscal controls of the dietary department, including preparing requests to purchase and obtaining price quotes.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a 2-year training program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology, or 2 years of experience in food service preparation.
  • 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in supervisory principles/techniques.
  • Must be a certified dietary manager, food service manager, or have similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body.
  • Has two or more years of experience in the position of director of food and nutrition services in a nursing facility setting.
  • Has completed a course of study in food safety and managing dietary operations, including foodborne illness, sanitation procedures, and food purchasing/receiving.
