Major Gifts Officer, Wheelock College of Education and Human Development

Join Boston University's Development and Alumni Relations team as a Major Gifts Officer, Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. This role is a key part of our efforts to secure multi-year commitments of $100K+, planned, and annual gifts for the College's priorities.
Responsibilities:- Direct solicitation of major gifts at the $100,000+ level and leadership annual gifts.
- Collaborate with Development and Alumni Relations colleagues to devise specific strategies and timetables for the successful solicitation of individuals with a goal of maximizing their philanthropy to Boston University.
- Coordinate and orchestrate prospect strategies with the appropriate College and University leadership and work in tandem to assure the highest and best use of time, budget, and personnel.
- Partner with the Assistant Dean on special projects including, but not limited to, fundraising in support of the College's centers and research initiatives, and developing and executing on the formation of volunteer leadership engagement opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of directly related experience, higher education development preferred.
- Highly self-motivated and metrics-focused.
- Outstanding track record of building and developing donor relationships.
- Strong understanding of development and philanthropy.
- Effective experience in enlisting and interacting with senior level leadership volunteers and committees, both internally and externally.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Superb judgment and the sensibility to adjudicate wisely among competing priorities.
- A disposition to listen and circulate widely.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of the role a fundraiser plays in being the conduit for the donor.
- Demonstrated commitment and passion for education and human development preferred.
