Position Overview:

Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through patient-focused clinical services, medication guidance, education, and the preparation and distribution of medications to ensure safe, effective, and economical medication therapy.

Utilizes sound judgment and advanced clinical expertise to contribute to and execute the patient's care plan based on their diagnosis in a timely manner.

Builds trust and collaboration with patients, their families/support networks, and other healthcare professionals through thorough patient evaluations, vigilant monitoring, and clear communication.

Complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to maintain privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be tasked with specific responsibilities and/or training other staff within the department.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

Doctorate:
Completion of an accredited Pharmacy program.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist
OR PHARMR - Registered Pharmacist
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (for those responding to emergencies)

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding of medical terminology, pharmaceutical names (generic and brand), pharmaceutical calculations, and relevant laws and regulations.
Familiarity with various pharmacy practice environments, including narcotic handling and procedures.

Ability to recognize and use pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols commonly found in prescribing, dispensing, and medication record-keeping.

Requires a foundational knowledge of legal standards and accreditation requirements, including those set by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds.

Demonstrates well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and operate within established procedures and scientific methods to achieve goals and meet deadlines.

General proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), relevant pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.

Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Identifies, assesses, and resolves standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensures the confidentiality of each patient's protected health information (PHI).

This position may involve regular handling, storage, preparation, receipt, unpacking, transportation, disposal, or administration of drugs classified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in accordance with USP 800.

Pay Range:
$90.97 to $100.06 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary based on location and other factors, including a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one component of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles may also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
