Position Overview: The Zoning Compliance Specialist I/II is responsible for implementing the County's zoning compliance initiatives. This role encompasses a variety of tasks related to the investigation of potential infractions and the enforcement of zoning laws and property maintenance codes.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct investigations and inspections of complaints regarding zoning violations and property maintenance standards.
  • Issue notifications to property owners regarding identified violations and ensure compliance through follow-up inspections.
  • Collaborate with other county departments and external agencies to coordinate inspection activities.
  • Provide public information regarding zoning laws and ordinances, addressing inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and compliance activities for potential legal proceedings.

Qualifications:

For Zoning Compliance Specialist I:

  • Two years of experience in public service and interpretation of regulations.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

For Zoning Compliance Specialist II:

  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience, including two years in code inspection or enforcement.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Work Environment: This position supports a hybrid work model, allowing for both onsite and remote work based on departmental needs.
