Job Title: 2nd Shift Machinist

Mate Precision Technologies is seeking a skilled 2nd Shift Machinist to join our Special Assemblies team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various types of conventional and CNC machines and machining centers to produce high-quality parts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate machines of moderate complexity and difficulty, including grinders, mills, and EDMs.
  • Work on non-standard products and inspect work using gaging and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Meet expectations for productivity and quality and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Train others, troubleshoot, or work with support groups as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement practices such as 5S, Kaizen events, value stream mapping, or other improvement projects or teams.
  • Work to achieve work center guideline certification.
  • Follow guidelines established for work scheduling and understand delivery objectives.
  • Report any machine or process problems.
  • Use a variety of tools, including Kennedy box or equivalent, micrometers to 6-inch, 6-inch scale, pliers, screwdriver, and adjustable wrench.
  • Promote a safe working environment and follow safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with others, be open-minded, responsive, and support others' efforts to succeed.
  • Demonstrate integrity by being dependable, having good judgment, being honest, and taking responsibility for their actions.
  • Respect others, encourage others to share their ideas, actively listen to others, and have common courtesy.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A two-year degree from a technical college or 4 years of related experience is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience setting up machine tools is required.
  • Experience working with at least two different types of CNC machines is required.
  • Experience using inspection devices is required.
  • Experience working with computers and ERP systems is required.
  • Knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, products, and processes is required.
  • A basic understanding of the machines and basic programming features is required.
  • Ability to adapt when things change.
  • Experience with inspection devices.
  • Required tools: Micrometers to 6 inches, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, dial or digital caliper,.0005 indicator, and magnetic base, and other tools as required by the specific machines and/or jobs assigned to the employee.
  • The ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal English is required.
  • Experience with reading prints.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
  • Good understanding of mathematical concepts and terms.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Occasional bending and stooping.
  • Use of hand to finger.
  • Lift, move, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting and moving up to 60 pounds.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
Pay, Work Schedule, & Benefits:
  • Pay Range: $37.14/hour, depending on experience.
  • Scheduled Work Hours: Monday-Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM.
