Job Summary

Interstate Companies Inc. is seeking an experienced Service Advisor/Writer to join our team at our Portage, Indiana location. As a Service Advisor/Writer, you will play a critical role in building strong customer relationships by consulting with customers regarding their service needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers at the service counter, by phone, and via email to take care of their needs using our Elite Support processes and standards.
  • Assist fellow service office employees with managing schedules and workloads.
  • Manage technician time and monitor repair progress for maximum efficiency.
  • Work with the parts department to gather information to complete repair estimates before updating customers for approval.
  • Work with outside vendors for sublet work needed on customer units.
  • Assist with warranty claims at the branch level and work with the warranty department to ensure maximum warranty recovery with vendors.

Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box.
  • 3 years of truck or automotive service writing experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, including excellent customer service and phone skills.
  • Organized and able to manage time wisely.
  • The desire to succeed in a day-to-day challenging position.
  • Mechanical experience
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Excede OS)
