Overview
The Senior Coordinator for Graduate Medical Education (GME) in Anesthesiology plays a pivotal role in the administration and coordination of residency and fellowship educational programs within the department. This position collaborates closely with the Program Director(s) and other GME Coordinators, contributing significantly to the program's success and operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of direct experience as the primary GME program coordinator for an ACGME-accredited residency or fellowship program is essential. This includes comprehensive knowledge of ACGME Common Program Requirements, the Next Accreditation System, specialty-specific Review Committee requirements, NRMP procedures, and specialty board standards. Current TAGME certification is preferred. Candidates may be subject to a federal background investigation.Key Responsibilities
Act as the principal administrative leader for the GME residency and fellowship program. Oversee daily operations and activities of the GME program, collaborating with other GME Program Coordinators and Administrators as necessary. Serve as a vital liaison among learners, faculty, staff, and the ACGME. Partner with the GME Program Director and leadership to design, implement, and manage the program's administrative and academic operations. Organize and manage educational activities that align with the program's curriculum and adhere to ACGME standards. Provide guidance to residents and fellows regarding program policies and non-clinical aspects of their training. Develop, review, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with University and accrediting agency standards. Offer consultation on inquiries from residents, faculty, staff, and department chairs. Manage sensitive materials and communications with confidentiality. Facilitate communication between the Program Director and various internal and external stakeholders. Administer the Residency Management System (RMS), ensuring accurate maintenance of resident and fellow data, schedules, and compliance with work hour reporting. Collaborate with the Program Director and leadership to identify and address program weaknesses, utilizing data analysis for quality improvement initiatives. Design and implement program evaluations that assess resident and faculty performance, ensuring alignment with competency-based standards. Oversee the accreditation process, including preparation for ACGME site visits and documentation. Manage the recruitment and selection process for incoming trainees, adhering to established policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with program letters of agreement and maintain necessary revisions according to ACGME standards. Track and analyze educational activities to meet board certification and accreditation requirements. Coordinate GME program events, including recruitment, orientation, and graduation activities. Stay informed on accreditation trends and developments through literature review and conference attendance. Represent the program at various professional meetings and collaborate with national organizations. Mentor and guide other GME Program Coordinators and Directors. Assist in planning and delivering institution-level development activities for Program Coordinators. **Additional Responsibilities:** Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred candidates will demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, and MedHub, along with familiarity with ACGME, TMB, and NRMP policies.Skills and Competencies
