Transportation Professional: Full Time w/ Benefits

Job Summary:

The Mendham Township Board of Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Professional to join our team as a School Bus Driver. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.

Responsibilities:

Safety and Maintenance:

  • Conduct thorough pre-trip safety inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Notify the Transportation Supervisor of any mechanical malfunctions or safety hazards.
  • Perform daily interior bus cleaning duties, clean windows, and refuel the vehicle as needed.
  • Participate in emergency evacuation drills and instruct passengers on safety regulations and bus rules.

Driving and Safe Bus Operations:

  • Adhere to established routes, designated bus stops, and time schedules.
  • Transport only authorized pupils and ensure all students have left the bus at the end of the route.
  • Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory school bus safety regulations.
  • Reports all accidents and pupil injuries to the principal and school business administrator.
  • Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  • Reports undisciplined students to the principal and Transportation Supervisor.
  • Exercises responsible leadership on out-of-district trips.
  • Enforces all regulations against posted school bus violations.
  • Attends driving safety classes if ordered by the municipal court judge.
  • Does not use a cell phone while the bus is turned on or in gear.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year will be determined by the Board of Education and set forth in an annual employment contract. Employment is for a fixed term of one year and subject to annual reappointment. The annual employment contract may be terminated by either party without cause upon furnishing the other with written notice at least two weeks prior to termination.

Evaluation:

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of non-certified staff.
