Wound Care Center Nurse

Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Wound Care Center at Oswego Health, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This includes utilizing your skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care through the use of hospital and nursing standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide efficient and effective care with the guidance of the physician during clinic sessions, attending clinics as scheduled, and being dependable.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, wound care center physicians, program director, and medical director regarding clinic and patient needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as web-based database programs and the Internet.
- Registered Nurse is accountable for the oversight of the clinical practice, outcomes, and success of the Wound Care Center.
Education and Experience:
- Registered Nurse with a current license, Wound Care Certification preferred. Medical Surgical, home health, or wound care, also preferred. Maintains and demonstrates competency in BLS (Basic Life Support), infections control, safety, and all unit required skill review.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions:
- Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling beds, wheelchairs, and recliners in excess of approximately 200 pounds with assistance.
- Position requires attendance, as scheduled, to ensure requirements are met.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and infectious/hazardous materials.
- Occasionally requires assembling, operating, checking, and maintaining equipment.
- Requires attending meetings as well as participation on committees as required.
- Actively participates in in-service programs, in Quality Assurance programs and CQI, cross-training; attends all mandatory classes as required; completes unit-specific competencies.
- Occasionally requires assignments to other units/shifts as hospital needs require.
- Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations.
Pay Range: $40.16/hr
Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
