Firefighter/Paramedic

Job Summary

The City of Saint Charles Fire Department is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as Firefighter/Paramedics. As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will be responsible for performing fire/rescue operations and administering advanced emergency care to the sick and injured.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and assist in the rescue of persons from physically threatening situations.
  • Administer basic and advanced emergency medical care to the ill or injured.
  • Perform critical examination of injured/ill patients.
  • Perform fire suppression as directed.
  • Perform equipment and building maintenance.
  • Prepare and submit various reports as required by the Fire Department.
  • Assist in providing medical training and medical equipment training to Fire Department personnel.
  • Perform fire prevention and public fire education as directed.
Minimum Training and Experience Required
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Firefighter I and II certifications that are accepted by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety - preferred.
  • Current Missouri paramedic license or current licensure with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a paramedic.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS & CPR Healthcare Provider.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or must be obtained within 6 months of appointment.
  • Current ITLS or PHTLS Certification, or must be obtained within 6 months of appointment.
