We are currently seeking to recruit a Fracture Mechanics Specialist who is enthusiastic about enhancing the domain of fracture mechanics and engineering evaluation methodologies to serve the industry effectively. The perfect candidate will possess a robust technical foundation and a recognized international standing capable of executing the primary responsibilities of the role:
innovation, professional representation, technical sales, project management, and ensuring technical excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate on technology roadmaps that respond to market demands and oversee the implementation of that strategy using both internal and external resources.
• Develop externally funded and internal research projects aimed at driving transformative technological innovations and objectives.
• Facilitate technical discussions with clients, especially key or high-value accounts, to identify and cultivate project opportunities.
• Craft proposals that align with clients' technical requirements and present a clear value proposition.
• Act as a business development representative for key accounts within your area of technical expertise.
• Promote EWI's technical capabilities through publications, conferences, technical committees, and marketing content development.
• Build a strong pipeline of project work to ensure the sustainability of technology at EWI.
• Mentor and enhance both the technical and communication skills of junior staff.
• Establish partnerships with equipment manufacturers to broaden EWI's in-house technical offerings.
• Provide technical oversight during project execution to ensure the application of appropriate technical approaches, taking responsibility for the quality of results and deliverables to clients (including reports).
• Prepare client reports and present project outcomes to clients for larger or more prominent projects.
• Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Strong foundation in material science of metals and comprehension of its influence on material performance.
• Extensive knowledge in engineering disciplines such as engineering mechanics, solid mechanics, and fracture mechanics.
• Familiarity with complementary technologies including mechanical and metallurgical testing methods, thermodynamics, and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques.
• Experience or knowledge in testing and engineering assessment of materials under various environmental conditions (corrosion, H2, CO2).

• Profound understanding of how to apply relevant codes and standards: ASTM, ASME, API, AWS, ISO, etc.
• Established client relationships and awareness of technical challenges in key markets, including but not limited to oil and gas, power generation, mining, and agriculture.
• Recognized expertise in engineering assessment methodologies.
• Proficient in conducting scientific research and performing experimental analysis.
• Exhibits sound judgment in communication styles and behaviors; understands the impact on team dynamics.
• Demonstrates proficient written and verbal communication with both internal and external customers.
• Analyzes and comprehends the impact of individual contributions on project financial performance.
• Proven adaptability and flexibility as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.
• Proven success in a collaborative environment.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Willingness to travel (10%) for client engagements and conferences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Office environment and laboratory/light production floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level.
• Use finger and hand dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, grip, manipulate, and measure.
• Use vision to see, analyze, and adjust.
• Frequently move, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stand, stoop, bend, and crouch; and
• Lift ten to 20 pounds on a frequent basis and 40 to 80 pounds occasionally.

EDUCATION:
• Minimum of B.S. in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum five (5) or more years of industrial or research and development experience.
