Assistant Production Manager Job Description

At UniFirst, we are seeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Production Manager to join our team. As an Assistant Production Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our production department by providing exceptional leadership and support to our team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the UniFirst Quality Policy is implemented and maintained throughout the production department.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and housekeeping of the facility and equipment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of guiding principles to support the UniFirst Mission Statement and strategic plan.
  • Foster a positive work environment by treating employees with dignity and respect, and soliciting their involvement in problem-solving.
  • Provide safety training and ensure compliance with OSHA rules and procedures.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and counsel departmental personnel.
  • Develop and implement improved processes, systems, and procedures to maximize efficiency and innovation.
  • Manage departmental activities related to safety, health, and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with corporate policy and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Minimize supply costs by assisting in planned and organized purchasing, inventory control, and efficient supply utilization.
  • Participate in the attainment of divisional growth goals for customer retention, pricing, and new customer sales by providing a well-maintained facility that enhances our reputation.
  • Meet budget requirements of the department, including budget preparation and operation of the department as a profit center for the company.
  • Follow all safety policies, HACCP, and medical guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate background or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the laundry industry preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, managers, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs and carry up to 70lbs.
