Job Title: Principal Nuclear Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Nuclear Engineer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and project management in the development, performance, and application of safety analysis methods for our nuclear power plants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex system thermal-hydraulic engineering analysis and provide technical leadership/project management in the development, performance, and application of safety analysis methods.
  • Interface with nuclear power plant engineering organizations and the Westinghouse Resident Site Operations Manager to develop work scopes and obtain approval for engineering work authorizations.
  • Obtain and maintain nuclear power plant qualifications for Safety Analysis Engineer, Engineering Orientation, and 10CFR50.59 Screen and Evaluation.
  • Initiate, evaluate, and disposition Condition Reports as required.
  • Provide technical input and written documents supporting the design, development, training, performance, and delivery of technical products and services to customers.
  • Effectively define, manage, and drive projects to successful completion to meet customer needs.
  • Support special requests from site as part of site engineering support.
Requirements:
  • Typically 10 or more years of experience in nuclear engineering, preferably with at least 2 years stationed at a domestic PWR plant.
  • Less than 10% travel to domestic and international sites may be required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics required; post-graduate degree preferred. Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Unescorted access at nuclear power plants will be required.
  • Successful candidate must be a permanent US resident or citizen.
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to perform assigned analyses related to the delivery of fuel reloads including fuel core and thermal hydraulic design, Chapter 15 LOCA, non-LOCA, and containment transient analysis.
  • Sufficient experience and logic/problem-solving capabilities to apply advanced engineering principles and techniques to propose, direct, and integrate solutions to highly complex technical problems.
  • Lead resolution of emergent plant support issues.
  • Coordinate and integrate complex technical projects across multi-functional groups, within schedule and budget.
