Fire Service Technician Job Description

At Johnson Controls, we're seeking a highly skilled Fire Service Technician to join our team. As a Fire Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center and diagnose problems with electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products.
  • Perform service and repairs on fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, and other resources to repair equipment.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation and help to train or mentor others on the service team.
Requirements:
  • 2-5 years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions and perform physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
