Assistant Professor of Materials Science

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Materials Science to join our faculty at Georgia Southern University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in materials science, conducting research in the field, and contributing to the department's service activities.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in materials science, including lectures, laboratories, and seminars.
- Conduct research in materials science, including experimental and theoretical work, and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
- Develop and maintain a strong research program, including securing external funding and collaborating with colleagues from other departments.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including serving on thesis and dissertation committees.
- Participate in departmental and university service activities, including committee work and outreach to the community.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science or a closely related field by August 1, 2025.
- Commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to develop and teach courses in materials science.
- Ability to conduct research in materials science and secure external funding for research projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to the department's service activities.
- Postdoctoral research experience in materials science.
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Experience with research funding and grant writing.
