We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at WSU Athletics. As a key member of our mental health team, you will be responsible for providing psychological evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for student-athletes. Your expertise will help us promote mental health and well-being among our student-athletes, ensuring they have the support they need to succeed both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities- Provide assessment and treatment for student-athletes with a wide range of health problems, medical/somatic symptoms, and related mental health concerns.
- Serve as the primary mental health provider for crisis intervention and treatment.
- Supervise other behavioral health clinicians involved with student-athlete care.
- Closely coordinate care with members of the student-athlete's healthcare team, including team physicians, athletic trainers, registered dietitians, academic, and student-athlete development staff.
- Facilitate student-athlete access to appropriate professional healthcare providers on campus and in the surrounding communities.
- Develop and maintain open lines of communication and referral systems with the athletics staff, as well as University and community resources.
- Manage working relationships with student-athletes and staff in a confidential, professional manner.
- Work effectively with a diverse student-athlete population.
- Provide guidance and harm reduction strategies to student-athletes demonstrating behaviors that may have a negative impact on their health, safety, well-being, academic success, and athletic performance.
- Doctoral degree in Psychology or equivalent, including completion of pre-doctoral internship.
- Washington licensure within one year to practice counseling/professional psychology.
- Minimum two years of experience counseling intercollegiate student-athletes.
