Job Summary:

As a CT Technologist at Carle Health, you will play a vital role in providing diagnostic Computed Tomography Services to patients. Your primary responsibility will be to operate CT scanners, positioning patients correctly, and performing optimal scans using correct technical factors. You will also be responsible for documenting patient information, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the proper exam is administered to the patient.

Key Responsibilities:

- Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques
- Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols, based on the patient's diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information
- Use correct technical factors in accordance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) to use the lowest amount of radiation to get a diagnostic scan
- Perform CT angiography, 3D, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPR's, post-processing of computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation, using reconstruction software appropriate to the pathology or region of interest
- Follow correct CT Department Technologist workflow, including identifying and documenting two forms of identification on each patient, acquiring history, verifying orders, scanning patient, sending images to PACS, scanning all paperwork and data sheets, completing the case in Meditech, addressing QA issues, charging for contrast media and supplies, verifying that all images, series, and data sheets have been sent to PACS, and making sure the number of images is correct
- Operate support equipment for CT, such as independent workstations, pressure injectors, PACS, and EPIC systems
- Initiate IV for administration of contrast media for CT in accordance with department policy and utilizing standard precautions
- Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and encouraging questions and answering any questions the patient may have
- Transport patients to and from departments when necessary, assist in transfer of patients on and off the CT table, and continually monitor patient condition during CT procedures
- Work with radiologists in tailoring protocols to meet patient exam requirements
- Refer difficult complaints or sensitive issues to department management
- Accountable for documentation of and charging for supplies used during the performance of exams or procedures
- Document confidential patient history to ensure appropriateness of exam and contrast media
- Document patient charge data, modifying and initiating charges as procedure modifications are made per the radiologist or ordering physician
- Document any allergic reaction, IV extravasations, or unusual occurrences, and initiate incident reports regarding staff or patient situations

Requirements:

- Associate's Degree or Certificate in Radiology Technology
- IEMA Radiography License Illinois or Temp IEMA upon hire
- Radiography (R)(ARRT)
- Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT) within 1 year
- Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic CT procedures
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Computer competence
