Position Summary

We are in search of a dedicated Health & Safety Engineer to enhance our Turnkey Industrial Construction team. This role will report directly to the Health & Safety Manager and will play a crucial part in managing JGM's safety programs and initiatives across various sites nationwide, including our fabrication facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety assessments in steel fabrication environments and diverse job sites.
  • Perform thorough inspections and generate detailed reports on findings.
  • Evaluate subcontractor job sites for compliance and safety standards.
  • Act as a representative for the organization with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Implement corrective actions and provide recommendations for safety improvements.
  • Facilitate safety orientations for new employees.
  • Deliver training sessions for field and shop personnel at all levels.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and near misses to enhance safety protocols.
  • Develop site-specific safety plans in alignment with OSHA, MSHA, EM-385, DOT, USACE & EPA regulations.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.

Work Environment

This role may involve physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials. Work may occur outdoors in various weather conditions and may expose individuals to hazardous materials or equipment. Appropriate safety gear, such as gloves, hard hats, and protective suits, is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving challenges.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and interpret graphs.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding regulations and construction plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in standardized situations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Capacity to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and teamwork.
  • Ability to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
  • Physical capability to meet job demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHST Certification.
  • OSHA 500 and 501 Outreach Trainer credentials.
  • MSHA Certification.
  • Over 5 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Experience in training on mobile equipment, fall protection, and hazard recognition.
  • Effective communication skills with both management and craft personnel.
  • Critical thinking abilities.
  • Familiarity with safety standards for structural steel and rigging.
