We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 16-bed telemetry stepdown unit, which provides high-acuity level of care to a wide variety of patients, including those with gastrointestinal surgery, stroke, cardiac, neuro, telemetry, post-surgical, drip medications, chest pain, etc.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the clinical team to create and implement a care plan that meets each patient's needs. They will also be responsible for coordinating unit activities and ensuring accountability of all assigned tasks.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
- Instruct and educate patients and their family members on various aspects of their care.
- Administer prescribed medications using the 5 rights to medication administration, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate using computerized documentation systems.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, including discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or has a Compact license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
