Role Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) operates within the framework of the nursing process, adhering to the ANA scope of practice to deliver professional nursing care. This involves applying patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge processes. The RN is responsible for providing high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures, while acknowledging the significant influence of nursing care and patient/family collaboration on health outcomes. The RN actively engages with patients and families to incorporate their input and objectives into the care plan, developing effective educational strategies for patients and families, and ensuring proper documentation of education and learning in health records.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required within five years of hire.
  • Graduates from non-accredited nursing programs must possess at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Completion of a competency-based orientation program is mandatory.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment

This position involves a full-time commitment with variable shifts, primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday work as needed. The standard weekly hours are 40, with work hours typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
