Position Overview

The Traffic Management Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic through various construction projects. This position involves a range of physical tasks and responsibilities that require a proactive approach and the ability to work independently under the guidance of a supervisor.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Foreman.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of traffic control measures, including the installation of temporary and permanent signage.
  • Engage in manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and managing construction materials and tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and the worksite.
  • Perform excavation and site preparation activities, including leveling and spreading materials.
  • Support equipment operators by providing guidance and ensuring safety during operations.
  • Mix and apply construction materials like concrete and asphalt using hand tools.
  • Oversee and direct the work of laborers in specific tasks such as concrete pouring.
  • Set up necessary supports and bracing for construction activities.
  • Assist in the installation of drainage and piping systems.
  • Utilize power and pneumatic tools effectively and safely.
  • Implement erosion control measures as required.
  • Participate in additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor when primary duties are completed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to navigate a construction site, including climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Contribute to team efforts to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities by sharing knowledge and skills with team members.

Safety Compliance: It is essential for employees in this role to be familiar with and adhere to the company's safety protocols as outlined in the safety manual.

Educational Background: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience: A background in traffic management or related fields is advantageous, with 1-2 years of experience preferred.

Physical Demands: This position requires heavy physical activity, including strenuous tasks that are primarily technical in nature.

Manual Skills: Proficiency in manual dexterity is necessary for handling tools and materials effectively.

Work Environment: The role involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures and noise levels typical of construction sites.
