Position Summary:

Division:
Unity Lab Services, a segment of Thermo Fisher Scientific, delivers essential on-site instrument services at client facilities. Our team is passionate about enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The primary service area encompasses Austin and Central Texas, with support extending to nearby regions.

A company vehicle will be provided to facilitate travel to various client sites within the designated service area.

Regular overnight travel is anticipated, averaging 1 to 2 nights away from home each week.


In this role, you will oversee multiple facets of field service support and client relations within our Laboratory Essentials division.

Your responsibilities will include comprehensive services for laboratory equipment, such as repairs, preventive maintenance, installations, and compliance checks, while representing Thermo Fisher Scientific.


We seek a candidate who is customer-oriented, a strong advocate for our company within client laboratories, and eager to enhance customer satisfaction and drive growth.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair, install, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment, including incubators, centrifuges, and cold storage units.
  • Schedule and execute detailed preventive maintenance and corrective services to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Provide on-site training for Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operators.
  • Manage expenses and trunk stock inventory efficiently and accurately.
  • Document daily service activities through the company’s work order system.
  • Maintain professional and knowledgeable communication with clients to ensure clarity on service events (status, costs, scheduling, etc.).

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering preferred.
  • EPA Certification preferred.

Experience:
  • At least 1 year of experience in field service, depot repair, or servicing medical devices or laboratory equipment.
  • Strong background in electronics/electrical and mechanical systems; refrigeration experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic testing equipment such as DMM, tachometers, and temperature devices.
  • Proficient in using computers, smartphones, and related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues using schematics, diagrams, and service manuals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Action-oriented with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
  • Strong customer focus, building solid relationships and delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance and carry 25-30 lbs throughout the day.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the territory and stay overnight as needed.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
