About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Doula to provide emotional and physical support to expectant birthing people and their families throughout the prenatal, labor & birth, and postpartum process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help birthing people prepare for labor and childbirth, including providing physical and emotional support during labor and delivery.
  • Provide breastfeeding support and assistance with newborn care.
  • Educate and inform expecting parents on birthing options and techniques.
  • Assist with creating and following a postpartum plan.
  • Assist with postnatal care and recovery.
  • Make appropriate referrals to community resources and other professionals.
  • See patients in the Nuvance obstetric office for prenatal and postpartum visits.
  • Attend births at Nuvance hospitals as a doula.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate and caring attitude.
  • Able to work effectively with clients and other professionals.
  • Reliable and on-time for work.
  • Certificate from your doula training program and confirmation that the training was at least 24 hours in length.
  • Certificate from your adult/infant CPR course or confirmation that you will complete this course prior to your start date (reimbursed by Nuvance once you are an employee).
  • Confirmation of attendance at 3 births as a doula in the past 12 months.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience as a doula (training can be completed on the job).
  • Knowledge of childbirth techniques, labor support techniques, and postpartum care.
  • CPR/AED training (can be completed on the job).
