Position Overview

The Commercial Vehicle Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy-duty trucks and equipment, performing repairs both in the workshop and during roadside assistance.

Salary Information

$33.28-$44.10 per hour/DOE

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on equipment in a timely manner
  • Diagnose, repair, and clean heavy-duty trucks and machinery, including the removal of concrete buildup
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and address equipment service requests based on safety, customer service, and maintenance needs
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and consistently update the shop manager and dispatch on the status of vehicles
  • Assist in managing parts inventory by organizing tools and documenting parts used
  • Commit to working safely and report any incidents or injuries to management immediately
  • Participate in scheduled safety meetings
  • Carry out other related tasks as assigned
Educational Background

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications
  • Possession of personal tools is necessary
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience is required
  • Mechanical expertise with commercial vehicles is essential
  • Proficient in troubleshooting diesel engines from various manufacturers
  • Experience with basic fabrication and the use of welding and gas torch equipment
  • Background in performing preventative maintenance
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical demands include climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of 75 to 100 pounds
  • Capability to work in extreme weather conditions and wet environments
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends
  • A current Commercial Driver's License is preferred
Employment Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screening, and a background check. Some positions may necessitate ongoing drug and alcohol testing in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
