Job Overview:

DLZ Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater. The role involves engaging in projects that may encompass water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, combined sewer overflow systems, sanitary sewer stations, booster pump stations, and transmission and/or distribution mains.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute engineering and construction tasks related to water, wastewater, and stormwater of a complex nature, particularly at treatment plants and associated facilities.
  • Lead engineers and technical support personnel in the assessment and development of plans and specifications for water, wastewater, and stormwater initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater projects from inception through procurement, startup, and construction.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, conduct construction oversight, and coordinate field operations.
  • Review proposed contracts to identify key parameters, timelines, and milestones, and outline major task areas.
  • Guide the planning and development of project scope, methodologies, and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and that work aligns with client directives.
  • Maintain effective communication with all divisions and departments involved in project-related services.
  • Monitor and/or review project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, and reports, ensuring quality control.
  • Track fees and budgets, and escalate issues to the appropriate Program Managers and task leaders.
  • Engage actively in civic and professional organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience with Municipal Water and/or Wastewater projects.
  • Experience in evaluating, planning, designing, and constructing projects such as Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pump Stations, and Lift Stations.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration in the state of Ohio is required, or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
  • Familiarity with Project Management software is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and technical writing abilities.
  • Capability to visit and safely navigate construction and project sites, adhering to all relevant safety regulations.
