We are currently seeking a dedicated MFLC School Counselor to support the Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program.

The selected candidate will deliver face-to-face, non-medical counseling services and outreach initiatives to students under 18 years of age. The focus will be on providing brief, solution-oriented counseling primarily within educational settings, while also extending support in broader military contexts. These services aim to equip participants with the skills to navigate the unique challenges of military life and mitigate stressors that could impact family and military readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with students individually and in group settings throughout their daily activities.
  • Facilitate psycho-social lessons and groups aimed at enhancing children's social-emotional development and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and school administrators to foster healthy social-emotional growth in children.
  • Participate in school events and activities to build rapport with students and families.
  • Conduct briefings and presentations for students, educators, and parents as needed.
  • Provide referral resources for participants requiring additional support.
  • Deliver outreach services to parents and military command staff.
  • Maintain daily activity logs to document hours of direct contact.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Independent licensure in a relevant mental health field (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC) in the state of New Mexico or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
  • Master's degree in a mental health-related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Fluency in English and ability to pass all necessary background checks.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents, with a focus on developmental psychology.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the MFLC program.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Background in educational or youth-focused settings.
