This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a reimbursement initiative for student loan payments.
To qualify, candidates must fulfill specific individual eligibility criteria as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within the designated timeframe following their appointment.
Approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility duration (ranging from one to five years) will be determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a thorough evaluation of the EDRP application.

This position is part of the Family Therapy program and may be filled as a Psychologist, Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, or Senior Social Worker.
Bargaining Position:
The Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an integral member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP).
The incumbent will deliver a complete range of psycho-diagnostic services, necessitating advanced and expert skills in various specialized interventions and treatments.
This includes individual, group, couples, and/or family psychotherapy, along with advanced psychosocial and/or case management interventions tailored for Veterans facing a variety of DSM diagnoses, including substance abuse/dependence, family dynamics, and poly-traumatic injuries.
The incumbent should possess knowledge of contemporary professional marriage and family practices.Experience must demonstrate the application of knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with current professional marriage and family practices, working with couples, families, individuals, and/or groups utilizing family systems theory/therapy, as well as the capability to diagnose and treat mental health disorders.
The incumbent may also oversee the clinical supervision of MFTs for licensing purposes, provided they hold an AAMFT approved supervisor credential.
Occasionally, the incumbent may be requested to represent the BHIP Outpatient program or participate in administrative committees or work groups as assigned.
Additionally, the incumbent should be capable of providing subject matter consultation to colleagues and students regarding the psychosocial treatment of patients within the specialty area, offering professional insights based on experience and expertise while role modeling effective practice skills.
There may also be opportunities to teach and mentor staff and trainees in the specialty area of practice.

Physical Requirements:
The role is primarily sedentary. Some duties may necessitate movement between various locations for meetings and work-related activities.
Occasional walking or standing may be required, particularly when attending meetings or conferences away from the primary work site.

Education:Candidates must meet one of the following:
(1) Hold a master's or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a COAMFTE approved program, (2) Hold a master's or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a regionally accredited institution, OR (3) Hold a master's or doctoral degree in a comparable mental health field that meets the current VA qualification standards.
Licensure:
Individuals hired or reassigned to MFT positions in the GS-182 series within VHA must possess a full, current, and unrestricted MFT license to independently practice marriage and family therapy in a State.

English Language Proficiency:
MFTs must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English as per VA Handbook standards.
