LPN/RN Unit Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Oversee clinical systems to ensure quality resident care in compliance with regulations and facility standards.
- Deliver essential nursing care to residents as per care plans prescribed by physicians.
- Guide and develop RNs, LPNs, and CNAs to ensure high-quality care delivery.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of residents to identify care needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with the ADON and DON to address grievances or concerns related to resident care.
- Document interventions and educational efforts accurately and promptly.
- Conduct rounds to assess resident conditions and clinical practices.
- Accurately record nursing care notes in resident charts in a timely manner.
- Administer medications and IV duties as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor resident progress and suggest treatment plan adjustments as needed.
- Observe and report resident behavior, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
- Complete incident reports for any changes in resident conditions.
- Monitor residents' skin to identify pressure sore risks.
- Manage various nursing administrative tasks.
- Order medications and refills from pharmacies as necessary.
- Inventory narcotics and monitor emergency kits.
- Facilitate shift change reports with previous shift nurses for proper follow-up.
- Understand and adhere to procedures for resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assist in recruiting and orienting qualified nursing team members.
- Set expectations and monitor performance of nursing staff.
- Delegate assignments and supervise RNs, LPNs, and CNAs on the unit.
- Communicate guidelines and training to nursing staff, residents, families, and physicians.
- Ensure timely responses to call lights and respond personally as needed.
- Promote a team environment through recognition and praise for nursing staff.
- Monitor staff adherence to schedules for breaks and shifts.
- Evaluate job performance of nursing staff and provide corrective actions as necessary.
Unit Supervisor Qualifications:
- Current LPN or RN license in the state.
- Up-to-date first aid and CPR certification.
- Minimum one year of experience as an LPN or RN in a Long-Term Care setting preferred.
- Familiarity with Matrixcare preferred.
