Maternal Child Health Nurse Job Description

**Job Summary**

Stamford Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Maternity Unit team. As a Maternal Child Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting a positive experience for new mothers and their families.

**Responsibilities**

* Provide direct patient care to new mothers and their babies, including assessment, planning, and implementation of individualized care plans
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes
* Supervise and mentor new staff and students to promote professional growth and development
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction
* Maintain current knowledge and skills in maternal child health, including fetal monitoring, newborn assessment, and breastfeeding support

**Requirements**

* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience
* Valid license as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut
* BSN degree preferred
* BLS certification required
* Maintain minimum of 6 contact hours annually in maternal child health
* Previous experience in maternal child health highly preferred
* Obtain NRP and Fetal Monitoring Certification within 12 months, if not currently certified in this area
* Lactation Certification preferred
* Attend Annual Maternal Child Health (MCH) Competency Day

**Schedule**

* Full-time position with night shift hours (7PM to 8AM)
