South Houston, Texas, United States Optum Full time
Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Opportunity

WellMed, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in San Antonio, TX. As a clinician-led care organization, we're changing the way clinicians work and live.

As a member of the Optum Care Delivery team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone. You'll work alongside talented peers in a collaborative environment that is guided by diversity and inclusion while driving towards the Quadruple Aim.

At Optum, you'll have the clinical resources, data, and support of a global organization behind you so you can help your patients live healthier lives. Here, you'll experience the fulfillment of advancing the health of your community with the excitement of contributing new practice ideas and initiatives that could help improve care for millions of patients across the country.

Position Highlights:
  • Quality-focused practice with typically 14 to 16 patients per day (30 minutes per visit)
  • Quality-based bonuses, paid semi-annually, instead of RVU or volume metrics
  • 160 hours PTO in the first year, plus 5 days for CME, and 8 national holidays
  • Strong clinical support team, including RNs, LVNs, MAs, nurse educators, case managers, clinic administrators, referral managers, coders, centralized scheduling, nurse advice line, and robust IT
  • Collaboration with primary care physicians (IM & FM), hospitalists, and networked sub-specialists

We're a network of doctors, specialists, and medical professionals dedicated to providing care for over 1 million older adults. Our focus is on preventative healthcare, striving to change the face of healthcare for seniors. With over 22,000 primary care physicians, hospitalists, specialists, and advanced practice clinicians, we're making healthcare work better for everyone.

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role. We also provide development opportunities for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:
  • Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners or licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board or the ability to obtain prior to employment
  • Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population

We're an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.

We're a drug-free workplace and candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment.
