Director of Philanthropy

The Director of Philanthropy will play a key role in securing funding for Blue Mountain Action Council through individual donations, events, sponsorships, and grants. This position will oversee the Communications & Outreach Manager to ensure consistency of messaging in reaching diverse audiences and engaging community partners.

• Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with BMAC's mission to implement annual fundraising and communications goals.
• Provide visionary leadership in partnership with the CEO, board, and management team, about BMAC's long-term goals to build thriving communities.
• Work collaboratively using strategic thinking and problem-solving skills across departments and teams.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising goals and strategies to diversify revenue streams and increase donor engagement and retention.
• Cultivate and develop excellent donor relations across sectors.
• Seek out and secure funding opportunities through grants, donations, and partnerships to sustain and expand programmatic efforts or special campaigns.
• Oversee special fundraising events.
• Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to advance strategic fundraising and volunteer goals.
• Launch a new program to coordinate the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers and promote community thriving through volunteering.
• Represent BMAC and promote programs and services at community events.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of professionals and volunteers.
• Foster a strength-based, supportive, and innovative culture among staff and volunteers.
• Provide regular performance feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support staff development through training and professional growth opportunities.
• Establish and maintain systems for data collection, analysis, and reporting to track program outcomes, measure impact, and ensure compliance with grant and contractual obligations.
• Prepare and present comprehensive reports on program effectiveness, achievements, and challenges to stakeholders and funders.

• Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, marketing, or other related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience; including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
• Demonstrated experience raising over $1 million preferred.
• Experience with supervising staff and recruiting and managing volunteers.
• Knowledge of community needs, resources, and relationships in our service area of Walla Walla, Columbia, and Garfield counties is strongly preferred.
• English-Spanish bilingual, bicultural desirable.

The work environment is generally performed in an office setting. Requires local and some regional travel. Scheduling flexibility is required to accommodate evenings, weekends, and unanticipated needs, on occasion. High degree of activity (errands, set-up, etc.) required around events.
