About the Role

The Manufacturing Mechanical Design Engineer Manager will play a crucial role in driving the company's automation goals forward. This position requires a strong technical leader who can manage and develop a team of engineers and technicians to design and implement in-house automation equipment and fixturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a team of engineers and technicians to design and implement automation equipment and fixturing.
  • Responsible for return on investments relating to automated equipment and processes, including proposing and justifying equipment costs.
  • Interact with plant-level manufacturing engineering departments to determine needs and develop equipment.
  • Develop and oversee prototype automation equipment for assembly processes.
  • Vet ideas, lead, and participate in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
  • Determine equipment requirements, design specs, and component selection.
  • Implement new and revised technologies to improve quality and productivity.
  • Solicit and negotiate bids from outside contractors and vendors.
  • Supervise the completion of projects by outside contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all mandated regulations, as well as company rules and regulations.
  • Reviews proposed disciplinary actions, ensuring completeness, fairness, consistency, and overall company interest.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering with 5-10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Technical knowledge in mechanical design, machine function, PLC, servo drives, and electronic systems.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical.
  • Mentor and develop entry-level engineers.
  • Remote troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and codes.
