Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for applying the principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve technical problems in design, manufacturing, research & development, sales, inspection, and maintenance.

The employee in this role will collaborate with peers within all the key business units to provide a robust & timely solution to the customers' current and future design challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance technical skills while working closely with management and the rest of the team on multiple projects.
  • Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.
  • Create & review new designs for conformance to customer requirements & and proper application of engineering principles.
  • Apply, evaluate, and optimize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.
  • Interact with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
  • Direct fellow engineers as well as designers & drafters in design concepts and optimization to meet strict deadlines.
  • Provide direction and assistance on development and qualification test programs.
  • Serve as engineering representative on the Material Review Board (MRB) to facilitate disposition of non-conforming product.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with at least 5 years related work experience (post-graduation).
  • Proficiency in stress analysis (FEA) & tolerance analysis and GD&T, fatigue analysis, fastener analysis, and material & process control.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer or CREO preferred).
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Mathcad, MATLAB, LabVIEW software proficiency.
  • Familiarity with electronic or hydraulic control system design.

Quality Requirement:

Employees will participate in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100 and/or ISO-9001 requirements.

The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process production parts.
