Job Description Summary

The Exhaust Mechanical Design Engineer will lead module-level exhaust system mechanical design, including guidance and ownership of the design and analysis of various components and subassemblies within the exhaust module. This role requires a strong emphasis on project management, including financial and personnel planning.

This position requires work to be completed on-site 95% of the time, with as much work-life flexibility as the work enables.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline, serving as a best practice/quality resource and contributing towards strategy and policy development.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others, with working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements, explaining difficult or sensitive information and working to build consensus.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Design Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in Design Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Existing US Government Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience with exhaust nozzles, structures, ducts, and liners.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Desire to lead a portfolio of projects.
  • Engine design familiarization.
  • Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Operational experience working in and managing complex, distributed teams.
  • Familiarity with GE design practices, processes, and products.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous design challenges/scenarios.
  • Systems-level thinking in a teaming environment.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
