Job Summary

The City of Charleston is seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. As a key member of our public spaces maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and upkeep on our public grounds, green spaces, and historic parks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform various maintenance functions on public grounds, including cutting grass, making minor repairs, picking up trash, cleaning, planting flowers and trees, trimming trees/bushes, pulling vines and weeds, and blowing leaves.
  • Operate various equipment, including stump grinders, mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, trimmers, tillers, and backhoes; perform maintenance on mowers and other equipment.
  • Work under close supervision according to set procedures.
  • Contribute towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals, and objectives.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months in grounds maintenance or closely related experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
