Job Title: Ground Maintenance Supervisor

At DLP Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ground Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our grounds and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and guide a team of grounds and floor maintenance staff in performing a variety of tasks, including training, managing, and leading.
  • Oversee shift work and ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as needed, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors, inspecting floors for damage, and repairing floors as directed.
  • Remove trash and debris, operate floor care equipment, and maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition.
  • Work within different teams on all aspects of grounds maintenance, including cutting lawn using hand, power, or riding mower, trimming and edging around walks, flower beds, and walls.
  • Drive and be responsible for a company vehicle when required, and conduct weekly vehicle checks.
  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
  • Evaluate and verify employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Ensure proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained, and maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence relative to the work.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Horticulture Technology, Landscape Architecture, Floriculture, or Arboriculture.
  • At least 3 years of recent experience in field management of commercial/industrial grounds maintenance of a similar size to FLETC Charleston.
  • Specific experience in scheduling and supervising a grounds workforce, as well as long-term planning to prevent plant health and maintenance issues for acreage of a similar size to FLETC Charleston.
  • Professional skills and knowledge in planning for and establishing the structural organization needed to maintain grounds.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communications in English.
  • Knowledge of the care methods of lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers, as well as floor care techniques and methods.
  • Ability to supervise a crew of workers in grounds and facility maintenance activities, and conduct training and informational sessions for a crew of workers.
