Role Overview: The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing significant capital improvement initiatives with a total investment of up to $40 million. This role encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from initial scope definition and justification through design, construction, and operational start-up. Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining project scope and justification
  • Creating execution plans utilizing both internal and external resources
  • Leading teams to develop technical and equipment specifications
  • Managing and controlling project schedules
  • Overseeing budget development and maintenance
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure best practices in design
  • Supervising construction activities and subcontractor management
  • Establishing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation
  • Facilitating project close-out processes
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and governmental regulations
  • Communicating effectively with manufacturing, leadership, and procurement teams
  • Adhering to all company policies and safety programs
  • Tracking project costs using SAP Project Systems
  • Providing regular status updates and financial projections
  • Conducting asset valuation upon project completion
  • Ensuring a fair procurement process and managing purchase requisitions
  • Preparing bid documents for subcontracted work
  • Monitoring supplier compliance with specifications and schedules
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%, with potential for up to 50% travel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • PMP Certification is mandatory
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a heavy industry manufacturing setting
  • At least 10 years of experience in project management
  • 7-10 years of experience supervising engineering and construction contractors
  • Preferred 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
