Job Summary

This is a part-time Behavioral Health Assistant I position at the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs. The successful candidate will assist patients in performing their daily activities, monitor recovery progress toward treatment goals, and observe their personal and social behaviors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor recovery progress toward treatment goals and perform de-escalation activities as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with consumers, treatment teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize active listening and problem-solving skills to assist consumers in identifying barriers to recovery and developing plans to meet determined goals.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans, including identifying relevant behaviors and managing group dynamics.
  • Support the department and facility in reducing incidents of seclusion and restraint.
  • Provide care to a vulnerable population, adhering to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform direct care duties, including escorting consumers to and from court and medical appointments, meal breaks, and recreation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and completion of graduate-level coursework in mental health assessment.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license and willingness to perform job-related travel.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and fingerprinting.
  • Willingness to work on-call 24/7 and participate in the DMHSAS-sponsored Consumer Recovery Specialist Certificate Program.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with a high level of customer interaction. The successful candidate must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
