Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough coding audits and education for healthcare providers to improve coding accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate medical diagnosis and procedure codes on provider claims, adhering to CMS coding guidelines.
  • Review medical records for physician documentation, clinical evidence, medical necessity, and coding compliance.
Requirements
  • Associate degree required, with a strong foundation in healthcare and medical coding principles.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with a proven track record of medical coding expertise.
  • 1+ years of experience in medical coding, with a demonstrated understanding of coding/classification systems, including CPT/HCPS/Revenue Code procedure coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding principles and practices.
  • Ability to research authoritative citations related to coding, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of claims processing for various health insurance providers.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Certification as a professional coder (CPC) is highly desirable.
