Role Summary:
The Clinical Nurse II is responsible for delivering proficient nursing care in alignment with established professional standards. Reporting directly to the Nurse Manager/Director, this role involves coordinating and providing patient care through the nursing process in a recovery room environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Education: Actively engages in identifying and addressing personal learning needs. Attends relevant educational programs and utilizes patient education materials tailored to the specific patient demographic. Evaluates the readiness of patients and their families to learn, considering their developmental stages and learning barriers.
2. Care Evaluation: Establishes expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance for necessary adjustments to the care plan. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to assess patient care and communicates essential information to ensure continuity of care.
3. Care Implementation: Demonstrates expertise in managing patients with intricate health issues, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. Adheres to healthcare organization standards, policies, and procedures while prioritizing care based on patient and family requirements. Consults timely with appropriate resources for complex patient situations.
4. Leadership: Collaborates in setting professional development goals and works towards achieving them within designated timeframes. Participates in unit goals and performance improvement initiatives, effectively utilizing communication systems and promoting cost-effective care.
5. Patient Assessment: Identifies critical data from complex scenarios to prioritize care needs, integrating physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety considerations. Develops supportive relationships with families to empower them in advocating for their loved ones.
6. Care Planning: Works with patients and families to create or update care plans, leveraging multidisciplinary resources. Addresses cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning and demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex needs.
7. Research: Engages with current literature to explore applicable studies or articles, fostering a culture of inquiry and knowledge sharing among staff.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure/Certification: Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
Professional Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience with acute and chronically ill patients or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
