Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Wilmington, NC.

We are a leading provider of survey and geospatial data and mapping services, and we are looking for a seasoned professional to lead our survey crews in collecting data from the air, ground, and subsurface.

Responsibilities
  • Lead one, two, or three-person survey crews on various projects, including NCDOT design and ROW, topographic, aerial ground control, boundary, and ALTA surveys.
  • Manage and coordinate survey projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Develop and implement survey strategies, utilizing expertise in geospatial data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor survey staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 10 years of field survey experience and at least 5 years of experience as a Crew Chief, or equivalent knowledge.
  • North Carolina DOT (NCDOT) project experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Trimble equipment.
  • Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations, and leveling.
  • Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather.
  • Willingness to travel overnight.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
