Job Opportunity: Adjunct American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking a dynamic and motivated Adjunct American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to join our team. As a part-time faculty member, you will have the opportunity to engage and educate our students in a diverse and inclusive educational environment.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses within the American Sign Language (ASL) discipline, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning. The ideal candidate will be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities, and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities, and educational experiences.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach a range of courses within the American Sign Language (ASL) discipline
  • Develop and implement engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community members to promote cultural responsiveness and diversity
  • Meet the minimum qualifications for the position, including a Bachelor's degree or higher in any field and two years of full-time related professional experience, or an Associate degree in any field and six years of full-time related professional experience
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in any field and two years of full-time related professional experience, or an Associate degree in any field and six years of full-time related professional experience
  • Sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
