Job Title: Senior Principal RF System Engineer for 5G mmWave

At Kyocera International, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal RF System Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge mmWave RF systems for 5G base stations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end design, specification derivation, and development of mmWave base station systems.
  • Perform link budget analysis using MATLAB, ADS, and spreadsheet analysis to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Derive specifications for RFIC devices, including interface and block-level requirements, to achieve best-in-class KPIs.
  • Design and optimize beamforming antenna systems and massive MIMO configurations to enhance coverage, capacity, and spectral efficiency.
  • Communicate RFIC and system features and requirements with software and firmware teams.
  • Contribute to the design and optimization of modulator and demodulator architectures for efficient data transmission and reception.
  • Develop and optimize analog and digital filters to meet stringent mmWave link requirements.
  • Plan and execute tests to validate system performance and reliability.
Requirements:
  • MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong background in mmWave RF, signal processing, transmission lines, and beamforming antennas.
  • 15+ years of industry experience in RF system design, including 5+ years of experience in mmWave base station, CPE, or UE design.
  • Proficiency in 5GNR, 3GPP requirements, and in-depth knowledge of beamforming antenna, massive MIMO, modulator and demodulator architectures, analog and digital filtering.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, foster a collaborative work environment, and guide projects to successful completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Working Conditions:

The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and is required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to walk; and occasionally required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
