We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian I to join our team at Husson University. As a Custodian I, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment for all employees and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and service facilities and Husson University, including general service and cleaning, cleaning and servicing restrooms, sweeping and mopping and vacuuming floors, gathering and disposing of trash and waste materials, scrubbing, stripping, and waxing floors, dusting blinds, furniture, windowsills, and heaters, and maintaining the inventory of chemicals and supplies needed for the assigned work area.
  • Shampoo carpets, wash walls, woodwork, chairs, tables, etc., and set up and remove tables, chairs, and furniture for special events.
  • Clean and maintain equipment used in job tasks.
  • Work weekends or adjusted work schedules as needed.
  • Support cost savings, quality improvement, and safety-related goals, projects, and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment, as well as occupational hazards and safety rules.
  • Knowledge of how to clean using proper chemicals for each task.
  • Some knowledge of equipment used for this position.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team and maintain cohesion of custodial and supervisory team.
  • Reliable attendance and diligence to the job at hand.
  • Ability to be on campus during any shift as needs arise.
  • Ability to be neat and clean in a professional manner according to dress code.
  • Ability to be polite and courteous to others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Continuously required to stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work overhead, lift and carry 75 pounds, talk, and use hands to finger, handle, and/or feel.
  • Occasionally required to sit, crawl, climb, and use ladders (up to 6 feet in height), as well as push and pull equipment on wheels that weighs up to 300 pounds.
