Position Overview

The Production Control Manager is accountable for managing the capacity planning operations within the organization to ensure optimal effectiveness. This role directs the corporate scheduling process in alignment with strategic objectives and oversees all functions related to Scheduling, Material Planning, Shipping, Receiving, and Logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer inquiries and confirm availability in the production schedule
  • Design and execute a comprehensive master production schedule
  • Evaluate and enhance the efficiency of the scheduling system
  • Manage lot sizing practices
  • Develop material strategies to ensure timely delivery to customers
  • Supervise shop floor control and expedite operations
  • Prepare shipment forecasts and assess capacity needs
  • Foster strong relationships with Production Operations
  • Facilitate resolution of issues across multiple functions
  • Formulate strategies for continuous improvement
  • Lead the scheduling department and liaise with Sales and clients
  • Create estimation scenarios and evaluate corporate implications
  • Collaborate with Sales and Manufacturing Engineers
  • Conduct capacity assessments and document processes
  • Support process control initiatives
  • Authorize orders for manufacturing and track production flow
  • Lead daily production meetings and maintain the Active Job Board
  • Address discrepancy notifications and manage master files

Supervisory Duties:

This position directly oversees employees in Production Control, Inventory Control, and Material Control. Responsibilities encompass hiring, training, work planning, performance evaluation, and addressing employee concerns.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Preferred certifications: CPIM, APICS
  • Five (5) years of training or experience in traffic and material control systems
  • Excellent communication and analytical capabilities
  • Proven ability to inspire others and experience in Production and Inventory Control Management
  • Familiarity with manufacturing control systems is advantageous

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The role requires regular communication and may involve sitting, standing, walking, and using hands. Responsibilities include exposure to the production area with specific vision requirements and adherence to company lifting standards.

The individual is expected to follow directives and perform additional tasks as needed.
