Job Title: Family Specialist II

At Child and Family Service, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Specialist II to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children.

Job Summary:

The Family Specialist II will provide intensive in-home services to families who are at risk of out-of-home placement. You will engage families in services, conduct intake/assessment and service plan development, and provide services to facilitate behavior change. Your expertise will help families navigate systems to receive needed services, and you will ensure that referring workers are aware of families who cannot be located or who refuse services.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide intensive in-home services to families at risk of out-of-home placement
  • Engage families in services and conduct intake/assessment and service plan development
  • Implement service plans based on cognitive and behavioral principles and strategies to facilitate behavior change
  • Teach and provide information on child development, stress management, parenting, nurturing, and family life as indicated by participant needs
  • Provide linkage to community resources and assist families through advocacy or concrete help to negotiate systems to receive needed services
  • Maintain participant confidentiality at all times and ensure that referring workers are aware of families who cannot be located or who refuse services
Requirements:
  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • Over two years, up to and including four years of experience in working with children and families, including parents/caretakers who have harmed their children or threatened their children with harm and children who experienced harm or were threatened with harm and who experienced trauma and loss
  • Knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior, positive parenting practices, case management and advocacy practices and techniques, and good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with families of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
  • Valid driver's license, current no-fault insurance coverage, satisfactory driver's abstract, and access to an insured vehicle
