Job Summary

South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document patient information accurately and efficiently, maintaining patient records in a organized and secure manner.
  • Ensure patient medication and immunization records are up-to-date and current.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to signs or symptoms requiring immediate attention, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
  • Transport patients within the facility as needed, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Manage patient care duties effectively, ensuring smooth clinic flow and minimizing wait times.
  • Report and record any changes in patient condition, unusual incidents, or breaches in safety protocols.
  • Observe patients requiring close attention, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist with procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries, providing support to healthcare providers as needed.
  • Collect and process specimens, following established protocols for labeling and transportation.
  • Perform and assist with radiology exams, following established protocols and competencies.
  • Assist healthcare providers as directed, staying within licensed scope of practice.
  • Provide immunizations and injections as ordered by healthcare providers.
  • May perform basic life support, as certified.
  • Identify patients overdue for immunizations and preventative health maintenance, working with healthcare providers to ensure timely appointments.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide cross-coverage for peers, supporting colleagues and clinics as needed to ensure efficient and effective patient flow.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, applying knowledge and information presented to improve patient care and clinic operations.
  • Comply with area and departmental scheduling guidelines, participating in unit goal setting and addressing employee concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall mission and goals of South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification required.
  • EMT III or Paramedic certification accepted in lieu of CMA.
  • Nursing degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for certification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinic procedures, medical terminology, and computer applications.
  • Ability to operate medical equipment, including blood pressure cuffs and EKG machines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
