Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert tax advice to our clients on Washington Excise Tax, gross receipts tax, and sales and use tax consulting services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage complex engagements with a focus on high-value quality tax advice and seek to expand services to clients.
  • Drive growth and profitability of industry/specialty area by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross-selling, and new clients for the tax practice.
  • Advise clients on Washington B&O tax matters, Washington Real Estate Excise Tax (REET), Washington sales and use tax consulting, audit defense, M&A due diligence, and other state sales and use tax as well as gross receipts tax consulting in conjunction with the overall tax team.
  • Serve as a career advisor, mentor, or coach to one or more employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Train and develop staff members.
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm.
  • Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, consulting, etc.
  • Serve as Tax client service coordinator while developing and executing the firm's client service plan.
  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach.
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience providing Washington Excise Tax, gross receipts tax, and sales and use tax consulting services in a Public Accounting, Consulting, or Law Firm.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA, JD, LLM, or EA.
  • Must be able to support financial growth efforts and manage a book of business.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, detail-oriented, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients.
  • Project management and critical thinking skills.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
