Senior Process Engineer

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The Senior Process Engineer plays a crucial role in providing technical guidance for a chemical manufacturing process, offering both tactical and strategic direction to bolster manufacturing operations.

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, productive, and environmentally responsible production of formulated products.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Make tactical decisions and establish long-term strategies to meet performance objectives related to safety, quality, waste reduction, capacity, reliability, and operability.
  • Collaborate with corporate and site production planners regarding production schedules, strategies, and raw material availability.
  • Assist plant management in assessing and achieving key performance indicators concerning safety, quality, waste reduction, capacity, reliability, and operability.
  • Investigate plant performance challenges related to safety, quality, environmental impact, capacity, reliability, and operability, leading to the proposal and implementation of effective technical solutions.
  • Act as a process expert and plant representative for the design, construction, and execution of investment projects, collaborating with technical professionals from various disciplines.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance standards for plant operating documentation, including standard operating procedures, process descriptions, material and energy balances, P&IDs, and data collection and retrieval.
  • Provide leadership to cross-disciplinary optimization and reliability teams across sites, assisting in the development of continuous improvement goals and resource prioritization.
  • Serve as a process expert for HAZOP and other Process Hazard Analysis techniques, supporting the timely resolution of identified process safety risks.
  • Propose designs and conduct plant trials aimed at improving plant performance.
  • Offer training and mentorship to foster the development of other engineers.
  • Represent manufacturing on the Technical Core Team for assigned processes, maintaining the Process Management File and approving process changes.
  • Support adherence to procedures, guidelines, design standards, and technologies across the site as a subject matter expert.
  • Encourage knowledge exchange and promote the development of self and team members through peer coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Support Site and Area Production System enhancements.


WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks candidates who possess the following:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and information clearly across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in analyzing complex problems and implementing corrective measures.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
