Job Summary:

The California Teachers Association is seeking a highly skilled Program Organizer to manage and advance the IFT grant program, as well as develop new program areas in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and advance the existing IFT grant program, including preparing reports and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and implement new programs for the IFT, including community and worker organizing initiatives.
  • Lead educational change efforts and teacher-led professional development initiatives, working with teachers and association leaders to promote strength-based initiatives in schools.
  • Represent the IFT at community meetings and events, as well as at various CTA meetings and events.
  • Perform duties related to educational policy, teaching and learning topics, and fundraising efforts to expand IFT programs.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of a customer relationship management system for the IFT grants program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • Prior experience in community or union organizing is highly desirable.
  • Recent classroom experience and skill in working with students from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds is preferred.
  • Experience managing and growing complex programs, reviewing budgets, and building partnerships with other organizations.
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong network of community and funder contacts, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite, web design, and social media.
  • Experience with using databases to advance the work of the organization, and flexibility in work schedule, including willingness and ability to travel, work evenings and occasional weekends.
